Tony Goldwyn was born on May 20th of 1960 in Los Angeles, California. He is an actor, director, and producer for film, TV series and many other projects. He started as a movie actor when he was 26 years old, in the movie “Jason Lives: Friday the 13th part VI” where he portrayed Darren, a character who didn’t have much time on screen.

But he actually began as an actor in theaters. He spent 7 years at the Williamstown Theater Festival in New York. He portrayed main characters on plays like “The Water’s Edge”, “The Dying Gaul”, “Holiday” and many others. All in pretty big places like the Vineyard Theater, the Circle Square, the 2nd Stage Theater and even the Cherry Lane Theater where he could win an Obie Award for his role in “The Sum of Us”.

Even though he became a movie actor at 26 years old, he didn’t get a great role until he could gain people’s attention in the 1990’s drama “Ghost” where he played Carl Bruner, alongside other great actors like Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore, Whoopi Goldberg and directed by Jerry Zucker, where he started to be recognized as a good actor and eventually started to gain much more approval in the industry.

Although he’s mainly known for acting, he has also produced but most importantly, he’s directed pretty good movies and various episodes from different TV series. Among the movies he’s directed, we can name his first directorial debut which was “A Walk on the Moon” with actors like Diane Lane and the increasingly famous Viggo Mortensen. This film was premiered at the 1999 Sundance Festival and was praised by critics as one emotional and very appealable romance film.

Even so, his last effort as a director was in 2010 with the movie “Conviction” that was played by Hillary Swank and earned her a SAG Award nomination, also, Goldwyn won the Freedom of Expression honor for the movie from the Boston Film Festival.
